Sharp
This seven week clinic is specifically designed for players looking to stay Sharp during the season and will include segments dedicated to shooting, passing and getting open. Sessions will revolve around a variety of moves, balance, positioning, shooting and footwork. Each session will focus on necessary drills for players to improve their game, and gain an edge over their opponents, as well as teammates. This program is open to players of all positions as skills will be incorporated from many angles and starting points. Sharp is available to Boys and Girls in grades 2-12.

Handles
One of our most popular programs, Handles will continue the tradition and present an intense ball-handling clinic that will challenge players with all new dribbling drills to take their Handles to the next level. This session will have an extra emphasis on handling the ball under pressure and against contact. Typical of all The Scoring Factory programs, players will face advanced challenges and drills with the detail and precision expected on the level of professional athletes. Handles promotes positive thinking to all players looking to develop dexterity and coordination in both hands and is available to Boys and Girls in grades 2-12.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1) What makes The Scoring Factory’s AAU program different or better than the competition?

We care about basketball education and long-term growth. We know that at a certain age players need to play in front of college coaches. We want to provide that platform. We have high level experienced coaches that care about teaching and creating an enriching environment in which players are taught, while playing against high level competition.

  • 2) What days of the week are practices?

Each team will practice according to the plans of their coaching staff and it may change from week to week and through the course of the AAU season depending on when tournaments take place. There will be two weekly practices through The Academy to enhance technical and tactical skills.

  • 3) Where are the tournaments? Is there a lot of travel involved?

The tournament schedule will be shared after teams are announced. Teams can expect to play in tournaments local to Pittsburgh as well as outside of Southwestern PA (depending on the team and level).

  • 4) Is membership to The Scoring Factory required?

Yes, our AAU program is only open to Members of The Scoring Factory.

  • 5) How does this differ from The Academy?

The Academy is a true club structure with a built-in support system encompassing all aspects of player development. Through 2 practices and inter-program games a week, The Academy focuses on skill development, hard-nosed defense and the construction of a broad basketball IQ. Contrarily, The Scoring Factory AAU teams will compete in tournaments facing other AAU programs.

  • 6) Will there be teams for younger Grade levels?

We offer The Academy for younger players. Girls AAU teams are offered for 8th-11th graders, and Boys AAU teams for 9th-11th graders.

  • 7) When will Teams be announced?

Final rosters for AAU Teams will be announced in the Spring.

  • 8) How many players will be on a team?

In a perfect world, everybody gets to play equally. In the AAU world, we’re in an environment where we’re balancing the overall development of each individual player while trying to win as many games as possible. Teams will typically have in the range of 10 players so we can practice properly, while taking into consideration that some weekends we’ll miss a player or two for a variety of reasons. So, our expected core will consist of 7-9 players depeneding on the team.
